Medicaid waivers help individuals stay in their own home, apartment, assisted living facility or adult foster care home, providing alternatives to nursing home placement. Medicaid waivers can also help individuals move out of a nursing home and back to a community setting. Medicaid Waivers include:
The A & D Waiver provides in-home services to individuals who would otherwise require institutional care. To qualify for an A & D Waiver, an individual must qualify for institutional care in order to be eligible for in-home services and be Medicaid eligible based on Medicaid Waiver income guidelines.
The TBI Medicaid Waiver provides in-home services to individuals who would otherwise require institutional care. Indiana defines TBI as a trauma that has occurred as a closed or open head injury by an event that results in damage to brain tissue. TBI means a sudden insult or damage to brain function, not of a degenerative or cogenital nature.
The MFP Waiver provides in-home services to individuals who would otherwise require institutional care. The MFP Medicaid Waiver moves individuals from nursing home settings to community settings. The individual must be a resident of a nursing home for at least 90 consecutive days or more to be eligible and be on Medicaid for at least 1 day.
