Medicaid waivers help individuals stay in their own home, apartment, assisted living facility or adult foster care home, providing alternatives to nursing care placement. Medicaid waivers can also help individuals move out of a nursing facility and back to a community setting of their choice.
Indiana offers the following types of Medicaid Waivers:
Indiana Pathways for Aging: provides in-home services for individuals 60 and over and meet the requirements for institutional care.
Traumatic Brain Injury Waiver (TBI): provides in-home services to individuals who would otherwise require institutional care. Indiana defines TBI as a trauma that has occurred as a closed or open head injury by an event that results in damage to brain tissue. TBI means a sudden insult or damage to brain function, not of a degenerative or congenital nature.
Health and Wellness Waiver: provides in-home services for individuals
under 60 years of age who meet the requirements for nursing facility level of care.
